02
Who owns what
The producer keeps ownership of the original beat, including the producer’s rights in its composition and sound recording. The buyer keeps ownership of their original lyrics, vocals, and other new material, subject to the producer’s continuing rights in the beat.
A purchase does not make the beat exclusive, transfer the producer’s copyright, or prevent another artist from licensing the same beat. The standard license also does not automatically establish songwriting, publishing, royalty, or collaborator splits; those arrangements require a separate agreement when applicable.
03
Important restrictions
- Create one original song.
- Release and monetize that song.
- Use it in a music video and promotional posts.
- Keep your purchase and license record.
- Resell or share the beat by itself.
- Let another person extract and reuse it.
- Claim you produced or exclusively own it.
- Register it with Content ID without written permission.
The Content ID restriction prevents one lawful buyer from automatically claiming another lawful buyer’s song—or the producer’s own use of the beat. Ask the producer in writing if your release plan requires separate permission.
04
Producer credit and collaborators
Give reasonably visible producer credit wherever the service or format supports credits. The issued license identifies the producer name connected to the transaction. Minor formatting changes are fine, but the producer may not be removed or falsely attributed.
If several artists, songwriters, or producers contribute to the final song, handle the separate split sheet or collaboration agreement before release. ToneLot’s standard license does not replace that conversation.
05
Refunds, reversals, and license records
The license becomes effective only after confirmed payment. A full refund, payment reversal, or successful chargeback ends the license unless the producer agrees otherwise in writing or applicable law requires a different result.
ToneLot stores the issued license, accepted version, payment identifiers, and acceptance time so the buyer and producer can identify the deal later. Always save your issued copy with the song project.
Read the complete license displayed on the beat listing before checkout. That accepted version controls the purchase.
