Turn a finished beat into a listing artists can trust.

A clean upload is only the start. The preview, price, profile, rights statement, and follow-through all help an artist decide whether to record.

01

Prepare work you are allowed to license

Upload only a beat you control and can legally license. If the beat contains a sample, loop, vocal, or collaborator contribution, make sure the necessary permission and split arrangements are handled before listing it.

Use a clear final mix, leave useful headroom, and listen to the exported MP3 from beginning to end. A damaged file, abrupt ending, or incorrect version can cost more trust than a simple cover image ever adds.

02

Build a listing an artist can understand

  1. 01
    Use a memorable, readable title.

The title can be up to 100 characters, but shorter names are easier to scan, share, and remember.

  2. 02
    Choose the strongest 30-second window.

Use a section that demonstrates the beat’s movement and leaves enough room to imagine a vocal.

  3. 03
Set a price you can stand behind.

The listed price is shown with the same standard non-exclusive license used across new ToneLot purchases.

  4. 04
    Finish your profile.

A recognizable producer name, avatar, bio, and working social links make the listing feel connected to a real creator.

03

Understand what you grant—and what you keep

The Standard Non-Exclusive License lets one buyer use the beat in one original song. The producer keeps ownership of the original beat and can continue using and licensing it. The license does not automatically decide songwriting, publishing, royalty, or collaborator splits beyond the written terms.

By publishing, you state that you control the rights needed to grant the license. ToneLot does not independently clear your samples or verify your ownership, so accurate rights information is essential.

04

Help the right artists discover it

Share the direct listing link instead of sending someone to a generic homepage. Mention the sound, mood, or type of vocal the beat leaves room for. Personalized outreach works better than dropping the same link into unrelated conversations.

A useful message is specific

Reference one song or clip from the artist, explain why the beat fits, and ask whether they want the preview. Do not claim fake results or pretend to be an unrelated customer.

05

Earnings, holds, and payouts

ToneLot keeps a 20% platform fee and records an 80% producer share on a completed sale. Funds may remain pending during the seven-day refund window or while age, identity, payout destination, fraud, refund, or dispute checks are incomplete.

Producers under 18 can list and sell, but withdrawals remain locked until they turn 18 and complete the required payout verification. Promotional bonuses are separate from sale earnings and normally unlock only after a legitimate paid beat sale to another user clears the refund window.
