Frequently asked questions
Can I listen before creating an account?
Yes. Public beat previews and listing information can be browsed without an account. An account is required for checkout, downloads, comments, and direct messages.
What does a standard ToneLot purchase include?
It includes permission to use the purchased beat in one original song under the Standard Non-Exclusive License. The song can be released and monetized worldwide, subject to the displayed license terms.
Does buying a beat make it exclusive?
No. The standard license is non-exclusive. The producer keeps ownership of the beat and may license it to other buyers.
Can I use YouTube Content ID?
Not without separate written permission from the producer. The standard license prohibits registering the beat or completed song with an automated content-identification system because lawful buyers may use the same beat.
Where is my purchased beat?
After confirmed payment, open Purchases or the purchased listing while signed in. The download and issued license record are tied to the buyer account used at checkout.
How much of a sale does the producer receive?
The producer share is 80% and ToneLot keeps a 20% platform fee. Refunds, disputes, verification, provider rules, and payout holds can affect when funds become available.
Can someone under 18 sell beats?
Users ages 13–17 may create an account and sell, but withdrawals remain locked until the account holder is at least 18 and completes the required payout verification.
Why are seller earnings held?
Earnings may wait through the seven-day refund window or remain held while age, identity, tax, payout destination, dispute, or fraud checks are incomplete.
When can a promotional bonus be withdrawn?
Founder, referral, and administrator-added promotional funds remain locked until the producer completes a legitimate paid beat sale to another user and that sale clears the seven-day refund window, except for a specifically authorized test payout.
What happens after a refund or chargeback?
A full refund, payment reversal, or successful chargeback can end the related license and may reduce or reverse seller earnings. The issued license record explains the status of the transaction.
How do I report stolen or infringing work?
Use the report button for a marketplace report. Rights owners or authorized agents should use the Copyright / DMCA page for a formal takedown notice.
Will support ever ask for my password or Client Secret?
No. Never send a password, one-time login code, authenticator setup key, full card or bank login, Stripe secret key, or PayPal Client Secret.
